Job summary

IDB Invest in Washington, DC, seeks an Environmental and Social Director to lead a diverse team focused on identifying and managing ES risks and impacts across financed projects. You will guide ES strategies, ensure policy compliance, and drive stakeholder engagement and transparency efforts.

The role requires a Master’s degree in a relevant field and 10+ years in ES risk management, with experience in international financial institutions. On-site position with potential teleworking.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent advanced degree related to environmental and social risks and sustainable finance, stakeholder engagement, and communications.
• At least 10 years of progressive relevant experience in ES risk management and leadership in international financial institutions.

Responsibilities

• Conduct portfolio analysis to identify ES risks and trends.
• Manage a team of social performance specialists overseeing ES risks of IDB Invest-financed projects.
• Provide guidance on ES strategy and policy compliance; incorporate lessons learned.
• Lead cross-support for ES risk, including to IDB Lab.
• Manage Grievance Mechanism and responses; coordinate dispute resolution processes.
• Lead stakeholder engagement with civil society and project stakeholders; build partnerships.
• Oversee transparency and access to information activities and data analytics.
• Develop capacity-building programs on ES risk management for staff and clients.
