Job summary

Zania in San Francisco, CA is hiring a Director of Engineering to lead the teams building the agents that perform real GRC work for the world's most demanding enterprises. This is a hands-on technical leadership role: you will run day-to-day engineering execution, grow and develop engineers and managers, and stay close enough to the code to make the hard architectural calls.

Our agents review evidence and map controls across frameworks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience, incl. 4+ years managing engineers and 2+ years leading managers.
• Hands-on experience shipping AI/ML, LLM, or agentic systems to production.
• Strong communication with customers and executives.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple engineering teams with weekly ship cycles.
• Hire, onboard, and develop senior engineers and managers.
• Architect LLM orchestration and agentic workflows for enterprise scale.
• Collaborate with security and GRC teams to meet Fortune 500 requirements.
• Translate customer feedback into engineering priorities.
