Job summary

Reflex in Austin, TX is hiring a Head of Engineering to own the technical strategy, delivery execution, and operational maturity needed to scale our platform.

This is a foundational builder role with direct partnership with the Founder/CEO, leading an engineering team of five to eight engineers and no CTO layer.

You will shape SDLC, DevOps, system reliability, and high‑concurrency data processing, while maintaining velocity and minimizing burnout.

Qualifications

• 9+ years in software development with senior leadership.
• 6+ years managing and growing engineering teams.
• Deep, battle-tested experience in modern backend ecosystems (Python/Django, Ruby on Rails, Go).

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement scalable foundations for growth.
• Lead a five-engineer team with mentoring and growth paths.
• Define engineering culture and ensure code quality and reliability.
• Own SDLC alignment with product to maintain velocity.
• Oversee DevOps, infrastructure, and security compliance.
