Job summary

Zipliens seeks a Director of Engineering to own and lead our growing engineering and QA teams in Franklin, TN. Reporting to the CTO, you’ll shape team performance, processes, and delivery while staying close to technical work and architecture decisions.

You will balance people leadership with hands-on technical depth, review output, pilot AI tooling, and drive high-quality software in a fast-paced, SaaS-focused environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years software engineering experience with leadership of engineering teams.
• Background in backend, frontend, or full-stack work in fast-paced environments.
• Proficiency in Python and JavaScript/React; data modeling experience preferred.
• Experience evaluating AI coding agents or modern engineering tools is a plus.
• Experience in SaaS-oriented, tech-enabled services environments.
• Proven ability to establish and improve engineering processes and workflows.
• Experience owning performance reviews, expectations, and coaching for direct reports.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration with Product, Software Engineering, and Data & Analytics.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and scale the engineering and QA teams with accountability for performance and growth.
• Improve engineering processes to accelerate delivery, velocity, and predictability.
• Set pragmatic technical direction and establish engineering standards and guardrails.
• Collaborate with Product and Data & Analytics to align priorities and delivery.
• Engage with external vendors/partners and assist with customer-facing technical discussions as needed.
