Partiful is seeking a Head of Engineering to build and lead a high-performing engineering org that can ship ambitious product outcomes with speed and quality as we scale.

You’ll own the health, output, and growth of the engineering team—making sure the right people are in the right roles, the management layer is strong, and recruiting, culture, and execution reinforce each other. This is a hands-on, high-impact role at a fast-growing startup.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• Led teams of 15–40 engineers in fast-paced environments.
• Experience scaling engineering orgs in startups.
• Strong leadership, hiring, and performance management.
• Ability to partner with founders/CTO on roadmap and architecture.
• Clear communication and decision-making under ambiguity.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a high-performing engineering organization capable of shipping ambitious product and infra work with speed and quality.
• Partner with the CTO on technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap prioritization; balance short-term goals with long-term scalability.
• Communicate company vision with the CEO/CTO to motivate the engineering team toward ambitious goals.
• Own execution: ensure projects have clear goals, owners, deadlines, and are met.
• Institute lightweight, effective systems for ownership, accountability, and visibility.
• Identify bottlenecks and redesign processes to maximize deep work and shipping.
• Develop leads into a strong middle-management layer that can scale from 15 to 30+ engineers.
• Define career ladders and performance frameworks for engineers and managers.
• Foster a high-performing culture with ownership, recognition, and rewards for impact.
• Own end-to-end engineering recruiting with the CTO and People team.
• Codify engineering culture and standards (speed, craftsmanship, ownership) via code reviews, postmortems, and docs.
• Strengthen cross-functional collaboration with Product, Design, and Ops.
• Establish metrics for velocity, quality, and recruiting to guide decisions.
• Design AI-powered systems and workflows to accelerate productivity.
