Job summary

Raydar is seeking a Director of Engineering in Los Angeles to lead and grow an engineering function, setting technical direction and delivering high‑quality software in close collaboration with operations and business teams.

You will hire, mentor and manage engineers, establish durable architecture across customer-facing and internal systems, review critical designs, translate priorities into plans with clear owners and delivery dates, and drive reliability and security with strong documentation.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of relevant engineering leadership experience.
• Ability to define technical strategy and roadmap.
• Strong hands-on leadership with architecture and execution balance.

Responsibilities

• Define the technical strategy and engineering roadmap for the company.
• Hire, mentor and manage a strong team of engineers.
• Establish durable architecture across customer-facing, commercial and operational systems.
• Review critical designs and help clear obstacles on difficult technical work.
• Translate company priorities into clear plans with owners and delivery dates.
• Set high expectations for system stability, security, quality assurance, monitoring and documentation.
• Collaborate with sales, operations, finance and production teams to understand how work gets done.
• Foster an engineering culture built on pace, sound judgment, accountability and user contact.
• Weigh build vs buy, manage technical risk and track impact on customers.
