Job summary

Plug in Sawtelle, CA is seeking a Head Of Engineering to set the technical vision and lead a growing team of engineers. You will partner with the SVP to align product strategy, drive architecture, and ensure delivery aligns with business goals.

Lead a culture of ownership, manage architectural decisions, and advance an AI-native SDLC while balancing speed and maintainability. This is an onsite, executive-level role based in Los Angeles.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software engineering with 3+ years in leadership.
• Startup experience shaping an early engineering function.
• Hands-on with AI coding tools and practical tech leadership.
• Experience hiring and growing engineering teams with culture.
• Production cloud infra, IaC, CI/CD, observability decisions.
• Strong communicator, able to align technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Authorized to work in the US for any employer.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical vision and engineering direction with the SVP.
• Own engineering roadmaps and delivery against the plan.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to align engineering with business goals.
• Mentor, grow, and retain a high-performing engineering team.
• Lead architecture and balance velocity with long-term maintainability.
• Make architectural tradeoffs and drive AI-native SDLC practices.
