Job summary

Corgi is building an in-house E&S operation in Chicago and seeks a Head of Specialty Product & Underwriting to own the E&S book end to end. You will set appetite, create guidelines, shape products, and lead underwriting decisions with engineers and actuarial partners to speed binding and improve performance.

You'll build one from the ground up on a small, fast-moving team, collaborating closely with founders and product to ship practical, scalable underwriting solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in commercial E&S with ownership of a book or results
• Defined appetite and underwriting guidelines
• Strong wholesale broker relationships
• Experience building on small, fast-moving teams

Responsibilities

• Own appetite and guidelines; write and maintain underwriting authority and referral rules
• Shape product coverage across E&S lines; partner on forms, endorsements, and filings
• Own rating and pricing; work with engineers and actuaries on rating logic
• Support portfolio strategy by tracking exposure, concentration, and aggregation
• Own book performance metrics: loss ratio, mix, rate adequacy, and growth
• Hire and lead underwriters to scale the book and set underwriting standards
