Job summary

Unusual Machines seeks a Director of Production to lead the manufacturing of FPV headsets, cameras, and battery assemblies in Orlando. You will build a high-performing team, establish scalable processes, and own planning, throughput, and quality to deliver on-time production.

You will drive continuous improvement, partner with Engineering and Quality, and evaluate automation investments to scale capacity while maintaining safety and cost targets.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive manufacturing or production leadership experience.
• Experience scaling production operations and building manufacturing teams and processes.
• Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, and production KPIs.
• Experience with complex hardware, electronics, batteries, aerospace, drones, robotics, or similar products.
• Experience with NPI, DFM/DFA, production testing, and manufacturing process development.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Experience working with ERP/MRP and production planning systems.
• Hands-on leadership style with the ability to move between strategic planning and solving issues on the production floor.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, operations, business, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Own production operations for FPV headsets, cameras, and battery assemblies in Orlando.
• Build and lead a high-performing production team including supervisors and technicians.
• Establish processes, systems, staffing, and standards to scale production.
• Own production planning, capacity, throughput, quality, yield, labor efficiency, and on-time delivery.
• Develop standardized work, assembly processes, testing procedures, and production KPIs.
• Identify bottlenecks and drive continuous improvement across the floor.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Product Development for manufacturability.
• Lead introduction of new products and processes into production.
• Evaluate tooling, equipment, automation, and capital investments to improve capacity and cost.
• Foster a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
