Job summary

DoorDash Air is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to build the first high-volume drone assembly line. You will apply DFA/DFM to new drone designs, develop tooling and fixtures, and own PFMEA to prevent issues on high-speed production.

You will work hands-on on the shop floor, collaborating with design, supply chain, and contract manufacturers to solve real manufacturing challenges as volume ramps. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced startup-like environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in manufacturing/mechanical engineering, preferably high-volume electromechanical, aerospace, robotics or consumer hardware.
• Hands-on DFA/DFM experience.
• PFMEA ownership for new product introductions and ongoing production.
• Experience with factory/line layout design to optimize throughput and ergonomics.

Responsibilities

• Be the first manufacturing engineer for DoorDash Air's mass-production drone assembly line, from pilot to full-rate production.
• Apply DFA principles with hardware and electrical engineering to ensure manufacturability, cost, and quality.
• Own PFMEA development and mitigate failure modes before they impact yield or reliability.
• Design and iterate factory/line layouts, workstations, and material flow for scalable production.
• Specify, source, design, and qualify assembly tooling, fixtures, and jigs with vendors.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with design, supply chain, production and contract manufacturers to troubleshoot build issues and drive improvements.
• Create manufacturing processes, MBOM, work instructions, and standards that scale with production.
