Job summary

KIPP Baltimore seeks a Senior Director of Development & External Affairs to lead philanthropic revenue, external affairs, and communications in close partnership with the Executive Director. This role oversees a dynamic team, ensures strong donor engagement, and drives strategic growth for the organization and its students.

The SDDEA serves as a public ambassador, coordinates with the board, and champions education equity through strategic campaigns, partnerships, and brand management.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of progressive leadership in development, advancement, education administration, nonprofit management, or public affairs.
• Proven track record of securing and stewarding major gifts and institutional grants.
• Experience leading multi-functional teams and strategic planning processes.
• Exceptional communication skills and political acumen.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategy and execution to meet philanthropic revenue goals and capital campaigns.
• Develop and execute major gifts and institutional giving strategies; cultivate a donor portfolio.
• Oversee development operations including data management and grant reporting (Salesforce).
• Represent KIPP Baltimore in civic and community spaces to build visibility and partnerships.
• Coordinate with the Executive Director to position leaders for high-impact cultivation and solicitation.
• Provide leadership to the Development & External Affairs team and coach staff for excellence.
