Job summary

General Motors (GM) is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the AV Developer Experience team, delivering robust tools and data pipelines that support 1,500 engineers and elevate the developer experience across Cruise's AV stack.

You’ll set technical strategy, grow the team, coach engineers, and collaborate with AI/ML, firmware, and infrastructure groups to implement observability practices and scalable platform development.

Qualifications

• Management experience leading software or SRE teams (7+ years).
• Deep understanding of engineering workflows and ML tooling.
• Distributed systems, cloud-native apps, and microservices.
• Familiarity with Go, Python, TypeScript and code reviews.
• Experience with GCP/AWS/Azure, CI/CD, Kubernetes, and Docker.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of engineers; conduct performance reviews.
• Define and execute the observability platform strategy and roadmap.
• Provide guidance on instrumentation, logging, metrics, and tracing.
• Ensure rapid incident detection, debugging, and resolution.
• Collaborate with AI/ML, firmware, and infra teams to improve reliability.
• Lead platform development for telemetry collection and visualization.
• Manage relationships and costs of third-party observability tools.
