Job summary

Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority seeks a Director of Design Quality Assurance to lead the Authority’s design quality management across the Capital Investment Program. The role establishes QA policies, standards and governance for planning, design, and construction phases, and drives continuous improvement and risk mitigation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
• 7 years of progressive experience in the design of major projects.
• 5 years of supervisory, manager or leader experience.
• Strong oral, written and interpersonal skills; effective organizational, analytical, multitasking abilities.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work varied shifts/locations and be available 24/7.
• Experience collaborating with regulatory agencies and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for design quality management across the Capital Investment Program.
• Establish, implement, and maintain QA policies, procedures, standards, and governance for planning, design, and construction.
• Direct the quality management plan and related systems.
• Develop quality objectives, KPIs, and reporting tools to monitor performance.
• Lead QA audits, surveillances, and compliance reviews.
• Oversee review and approval of consultant Project Quality Plans.
• Serve as executive lead for identification and mitigation of design quality risks.
• Direct the development and monitoring of corrective and preventive actions.
• Lead Designer E&O program and participate in committees.
• Supervise QA Managers and auditors.
