Key Responsibilities

1. Ownership: Conceptualise; design and launch all new features from scratch, and refine (or replace) existing features, driving improvements across the entire experience.
2. Hands-on UI & UX Design: Create user flows, wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes in Figma. Design intuitive, visually polished interfaces aligned with our brand.
3. Iterative Improvement: Continuously iterate designs based on user feedback, data, and testing. Regularly refine and optimise the app experience.
4. Collaboration: Partner closely with our product manager and engineers to translate requirements into feasible, high-quality designs. Clearly communicate your vision and deliver detailed design specs.
5. Design System & Consistency: Contribute to and maintain our design system, ensuring consistency and seamless integration of new features into the existing app.
6. User-Centric Focus: Deeply understand user needs and behaviors through empathy and research. Advocate for accessible, clear, and delightful user experiences.
7. Innovation: Stay current with UI/UX trends and techniques in consumer mobile apps. Bring fresh, creative ideas to continually elevate our product experience.

About You

• Experience: You have at least 5 years experience designing consumer mobile apps at high-growth companies and have a deep understanding of mobile design.
• Design Tools: You're highly proficient in Figma (or equivalent), confidently creating wireframes, interactive prototypes, and maintaining organised design systems.
• Strong Portfolio: You can showcase a compelling portfolio featuring polished mobile app designs, clear examples of your end-to-end process, and elegant solutions to user problems.
• User-Centered & Iterative: You love user-centered design, thrive in rapid prototyping, and enjoy quickly iterating based on feedback and testing.
• Visual & Interaction Design Skills: You have exceptional visual and interaction design skills, producing intuitive layouts, polished visuals, and thoughtful interactions.
• Communication & Collaboration: You're a clear communicator who articulates design decisions effectively, welcomes feedback, and enjoys collaborating across teams.
• Adaptability: You’re proactive and resourceful, thriving in a fast-paced startup environment and capable of managing multiple projects and priorities.

The role is fully remote but must be based in Sydney, Australia, or the US West Coast (in which case you must also be able to travel to Sydney multiple times per year. We will also relocate you to Sydney if preferred).
