Job summary

SafeLease is seeking a hands-on Director of Data & Analytics to lead analytics across insurance and investment management. You will shape data strategy, oversee a growing team, and translate complex data into executive-ready insights to drive fast, informed decisions.

You will design data collection and governance, partner across functions, and build reporting platforms supporting underwriting optimization, claims performance, and financial forecasting in a hybrid NYC or Austin environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a leadership capacity overseeing teams/direct reports.
• 10+ years in analytics, data strategy, BI, or related field.
• Proven experience leading company-wide analytics programs in fast-moving environments.
• Ability to operate strategically while executing tactically.
• Strong background in data operations, statistical analysis, dashboards, and governance.
• Experience with investment portfolios and/or insurance/financial services analytics.
• Excellent communication skills for executive-level insights.
• Track record of building and leading high-performing analytics teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead analytics strategy and set data collection, management, and insight directions.
• Oversee analytics function with reporting, modeling, and data practices.
• Translate data into actionable insights for executives and operations.
• Drive automation and modern analytics tooling to speed insights.
• Mentor analytics team while contributing hands-on when needed.
• Partner with Finance, Operations, Product and Technology to embed analytics across initiatives.
• Develop reporting platforms for underwriting optimization, claims, distribution, forecasting, and metrics.
