Job summary

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. is seeking a Director of Engineering, Data & AI to build and lead a capability-based organization.

This role will establish an operating model, talent strategy, and technical accountability to scale McCarthy’s technology capabilities across applications, Foundry, data, AI, and platform services. The leader will harmonize engineering and data capabilities with governance, FinOps, and platform administration while ensuring delivery excellence and security

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a technical field; Master’s preferred.
• 12+ years of senior leadership experience across software engineering, data engineering, AI engineering, or related domains.
• 5+ years of technical people leadership and experience leading through managers or senior leaders.
• Proven track record designing and operating technology organizations through growth or transformation.
• Strong executive communication, stakeholder management, and change leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the Engineering, Data & AI capability strategy.
• Establish ownership across applications, data, AI, and platform operations.
• Design operating models supporting shared platforms and cross-team collaboration.
• Lead governance, risk, and delivery discipline for enterprise-scale tech capabilities.
• Partner with Architecture, Cybersecurity, and Digital Platforms to shape solutions.
