Job summary

The Nature Conservancy seeks a Managing Director, Data, AI & Applied Technology to define how data, technology, and AI create mission and business value across the organization. This is a first-of-its-kind function that will own decisions, outcomes, and adoption.

You will lead enterprise data strategy, governance, and responsible AI, partner with CIO and CEO, and build a globally aware team. This hybrid role prefers Washington, DC area but flexibility exists for candidates located elsewhere.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, law, data science, data governance, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in global, multi-product environments.
• Experience with governance, decision rights, adoption strategies, and benefits realization.
• Experience with data privacy, security, and responsible AI.

Responsibilities

• Define enterprise business data and AI strategies aligned to conservation priorities.
• Establish federated domain data ownership across organizations.
• Lead enterprise data governance and responsible AI governance.
• Build data literacy programs with cross-functional teams.
• Manage budget and vendor contracts.
• Partner with executive leadership to translate technology into conservation outcomes.
