Job summary

The Nature Conservancy seeks a Managing Director, Data, AI & Applied Technology to define how data, applied tech, and AI create measurable conservation and business value.

Reporting to the COO with a dotted line to the CEO, this role leads enterprise data strategy, governance, and AI governance, partnering with the CIO and Executive Leadership Team to drive adoption and impactful outcomes. Preference for Washington, DC area; hybrid work available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with 10+ years in a global organization
• Experience partnering with corporations, governments, and NGOs across multiple countries
• Ability to translate organizational strategy into data, analytics, applied technology, or AI outcomes
• Experience with governance, adoption strategies, change management, and benefits realization

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain enterprise data, AI, and tech strategies aligned to conservation goals
• Establish federated domain data ownership across enterprise domains
• Lead enterprise data governance and responsible AI governance guidance
• Build data literacy programs with People, Learning, IT, and business teams
• Lead a high-performing, globally aware team across data strategy, governance, and adoption
• Represent TNC in external forums on responsible AI and data strategy
