Job summary

Conexus, a well-established publicly traded financial services company, is seeking a Head of Corporate Accounting & Tax to lead corporate accounting, technical accounting, SEC reporting, and tax. • 12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public-company exposure.
• Big 4 background strongly preferred, ideally paired with industry experience.
• Experience in financial services, with sophisticated understanding of investment accounting and transaction-driven businesses.
• Strong track record in SEC reporting, technical accounting, and public-company financial disclosures.
• Experience overseeing or closely partnering with a tax function.
• Deep U.S. GAAP expertise and strong command of SOX/internal controls.
• CPA required.

Responsibilities

Role Overview:

We're seeking a Head of Corporate Accounting & Tax to serve as a senior leader within the accounting organization, with oversight spanning corporate accounting, technical accounting, SEC reporting, and tax. This individual will work closely with senior management, the Audit Committee, and external auditors, while providing technical accounting judgment on complex matters including fair value measurements, consolidations, VIEs, revenue recognition, and complex financial instruments. The role also includes oversight of accounting analysis across a large portfolio of debt and equity investment positions, along with senior-level oversight of the tax function (provision, compliance, planning, and advisor management). This is a hybrid role based in Los Angeles, requiring on-site presence 1-2 days per week.
