Job description

We are the leading media company and marketing agency for growth audiences, the fastest-moving and most culturally influential consumer segments in the U.S. We define growth audiences differently: not just by age, but by expanding economic power, cultural influence, and market impact across generations.

At My Code, listening is our core engine. It is our tool, our hiring strategy, and our approach to every brief. We listen intently to the audiences shaping tomorrow, allowing us to move our clients into authentic, uncharted territory.

My Code is an MBE-certified business, a three-time Inc. 5000 honoree, and home to celebrated media brands and creative agency teams. Our culturally nuanced campaigns have won elite industry accolades—including Cannes Lions, Clios, Webbys and ANA Multicultural Excellence Awards—while our commitment to our team has placed us on Digiday’s 2026 Top Workplaces list and earned a nomination for Best Wellness Program at the Digiday WorkLife Awards.

My Code is majority-owned by Ariel Alternatives LLC's Project Black, which aims to scale businesses to serve as suppliers-of-choice to Fortune 500 companies. For more information, please visit www.mycodemedia.com .

About the Role:

The newly created Head of Content will define and lead My Code's content strategy across brands, platforms, audiences, and publisher networks, while shaping Cultural Content, one of our four core advertiser solutions.

This critical leadership role will establish the content strategy, operating standards, and performance expectations across the portfolio, ensuring each brand has a distinctive audience proposition, clear programming lanes, signature franchises, and a platform-native approach to growth.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this leader will help shape the next chapter of My Code's content strategy across My Code Hispanic and My Code Black. My Code Hispanic spans English- and Spanish-language owned-and-operated brands including Remezcla, HipLatina, El Diario, La Opinión, and Comedera, along with a broader network of exclusive publisher partners. My Code Black includes owned-and-operated properties such as Circle of Greats and Parents Need Love, along with exclusive Black-focused publisher partners. This leader will define how content strategy, audience growth, programming, and investment work across both portfolios and their respective brands and partners.

Given the role’s leadership across both English- and Spanish-language brands and audiences, the Head of Content must be fully bilingual and fluent in English and Spanish, with exceptional editorial judgment, copywriting, and proofreading skills in both languages.

The Head of Content will build and lead a unified content operating model that connects editorial, social, video, audio, audience intelligence, and talent into a coordinated engine for audience growth, engagement, IP development, and commercial opportunity. This role requires someone who can translate creative vision into operational strategy.

This leader will determine what we make, who we make it for, where it lives, how it scales, and where we invest. They will work across teams and brands to focus resources on the content and franchises with the greatest potential to build distinctive audiences, deepen community connection, and create lasting value.

In partnership with Sales, Client Solutions, and Studio, the Head of Content will also turn My Code content, franchises, and IP into scalable sponsorship, branded content, and integrated commercial opportunities.

This role leads My Code's content organization across digital, social, audio, and print, with direct responsibility for editorial leadership across My Code Hispanic and My Code Black owned-and-operated properties, as well as Audience & Content Optimization.

This leader joins at a pivotal moment as My Code evolves toward a more focused, audience-led operating model and strengthens how content is produced, resourced, distributed, and measured. This is a build-and-stabilize mandate as much as a strategy role.

Responsibilities:

Define the Content Vision: Establish a clear, unified content strategy across My Code's portfolio, including content pillars, programming lanes, franchises, formats, and editorial calendars aligned to audience demand, cultural relevance, brand positioning, and business priorities.

Own Portfolio Content Strategy: Maintain clear, differentiated roles across My Code's brands and publisher networks, ensuring content, audience focus, platform strategy, and investment reinforce their distinct positions within the broader My Code portfolio.

Build Scalable Programming, Franchises & IP: Develop repeatable formats, franchises, and intellectual property that drive consistent audience engagement, strengthen brand identity, and create scalable, monetizable opportunities.

Lead Audience Growth Strategy: Advance a social-first, video-led content model that strengthens discovery, engagement, brand voice, and premium storytelling across platforms.

Unify the Content Engine: Connect editorial, social, video, audio, audience intelligence, and talent into a coordinated operating model that supports ideas from concept through production, distribution, optimization, and monetization.

Optimize Resources Across the Portfolio: Align editorial, social, video, audio, talent, freelance, and vendor resources against the highest-priority brands, content opportunities, and growth initiatives.

Lead the Creator & Production Partner Network: Manage an extensive network of production partners, agencies, freelancers, and a U.S. creator roster, setting clear briefs, budgets, quality standards, performance expectations, and accountability across the network.

Growth & Commercial Impact

Drive Audience Growth, Engagement & Yield: Own content performance across key metrics, including followers, engagement, video views, returning users, revenue yield, and other relevant audience and commercial indicators.

Translate Content into Revenue Opportunity: Partner with Client Solutions, Sales, and Studio to develop content and franchises that become sellable IP, sponsorship opportunities, branded extensions, and integrated client solutions.

Lead Platform-Native Execution: Ensure content is built for how audiences actually discover, consume, share, and engage across social, video, audio, owned sites, publisher partners, newsletters, print, and emerging platforms.

Build Audience Loyalty: Ensure each brand delivers a clear and recognizable value proposition to its audience, strengthening loyalty, relevance, and repeat engagement.

Leadership, Accountability & Operational Excellence

Establish Performance Discipline & Accountability: Build consistent feedback loops using data, audience insights, and cultural signals to evaluate content performance, identify what is working, and make clear decisions about what to scale, evolve, or stop.

Create Clear Content Priorities: Establish clear goals, standards, and measures of success across brands and platforms, ensuring teams understand where to focus and how performance will be evaluated.

Strengthen Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner with Studio, Product Marketing, Client Solutions, Sales, and other teams to ensure content supports audience, brand, and business goals.

Lead with Clarity and Accountability: Set clear priorities and standards across editorial, audience, social, video, audio, and talent teams, creating accountability while empowering functional leaders to execute.

Build a High-Performance Culture: Foster a culture of creativity, experimentation, focus, collaboration, and accountability, with a willingness to challenge legacy approaches and continuously improve how My Code develops and distributes content.

The Impact You'll Make:

As the inaugural Head of Content, you will turn My Code's portfolio strategy into a high-performing content engine.

Success will mean stronger brand identities, growing audiences across platforms, scalable franchises and IP, stronger publisher partnerships, clearer performance accountability, smarter resource allocation, and content that creates measurable audience and commercial value.

In your first 90 days, you will begin operationalizing this model across the portfolio, establishing clear priorities, performance standards, and ways of working that focus investment on the content and franchises with the greatest potential to grow.

Qualifications:
  • 12+ years of experience in digital media, content programming, audience development, or multi-platform content leadership

  • Expert knowledge of social, video, and audio platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, podcasts, and other emerging distribution channels, and how content performs and scales across each
  • Strong understanding of owned-and-operated publishing across digital, social, audio, and print, as well as audience development and third-party distribution
  • Proven understanding of audience behavior, engagement drivers, cultural trends, and growth strategies
  • Experience connecting content strategy to business outcomes, including branded content, sponsorships, franchises, and IP development
  • Ability to bring structure, clarity, prioritization, and accountability to complex, multi-team environments
  • Strong cultural acumen and an understanding of how culture and community shape distinctive media brands
