Job summary

Credit Genie in New York is seeking a Director of Compliance to lead and evolve the company's compliance program, ensuring regulatory adherence while enabling consumer-facing products. Reporting to Head of Legal, you will embed compliance into product design, balance risk and user experience, and provide data-driven reporting to management and the Board.

This hands-on role partners with product, engineering, risk, and operations to scale across markets, focusing on UDAAP, TILA/Reg Z, AML/KYC,

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in compliance, legal, or risk management roles within fintech or financial services.
• Track record of building or scaling compliance processes in product-driven, fast-paced environments.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. consumer financial regulations (UDAAP, TILA/Reg Z, EFTA/Reg E, FCRA).
• Experience with AML/KYC programs and BSA/OFAC knowledge.
• Ability to interpret regulations pragmatically to enable compliant product innovation.
• Experience coordinating with regulators, auditors, and financial institution partners.
• Comfortable working cross-functionally with product, engineering, legal, and risk teams.
• Familiarity with transaction monitoring and reporting tooling.
• Bachelor's degree required; JD or CRCM a plus.

• Maintain and operate a scalable compliance framework for consumer financial products.
• Track regulatory developments and adapt the program to regulatory changes.
• Own compliance review of product touchpoints to meet UDAAP and disclosure standards.
• Support engagement with regulators, auditors, and financial institution partners.
• Build scalable processes that grow with business expansion into new markets and products.
• Embed compliance into product design early in the lifecycle.
• Advise on structuring products to balance compliance with user experience.
• Monitor consumer complaints and remediation to identify risks.
• Keep processes lightweight to reduce operational friction.
• Prepare data-driven reporting for management and Board.
• Foster a compliance-minded culture across teams.
• Educate employees on practical compliance principles.
