Job summary

The State of Nebraska's Department of Economic Development is seeking a Director of Communications to lead the agency's marketing, public relations and information strategies. You will supervise the communications team and provide editorial guidance to ensure accurate, timely messaging across media channels.

The role requires a bachelor's degree with at least five years of related experience, strong leadership and event planning skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, political science, government management, economics, accounting, marketing, teaching, or another job-related field.
• Five years of job-related experience required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates with management to study objectives, promotional policies and needs to identify, develop, implement, and evaluate marketing, communications, advertising, and public information strategies.
• Direct supervision of the Department's communications team.
• Develops and implements informational and educational programs to keep the public informed of agency activities across media.
• Assigns and reviews activities of staff on projects to ensure accuracy of writing, photography, layout, and publishing.
• Advise management on editorial strategies and potential public reaction to information releases; discuss dissemination approaches with media partners.
