Job summary

AARP Nebraska seeks an Associate State Director - Communications in Lincoln to lead multi-channel communications and marketing efforts that advance the mission, elevate brand awareness, and engage diverse audiences across the state.

You will shape messaging, promote strategic initiatives, and collaborate with staff, volunteers and partners to maximize engagement and impact, leveraging social media, digital tools, media relations and content development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications or related field.
  • 1"5+ years in communications, public relations, marketing, media relations or digital communications.
  • 2"Experience executing integrated multi-channel campaigns that increase brand awareness and engagement.
  • 3"Strong social media and digital content expertise across platforms.
  • 4"Experience creating compelling written and visual content for diverse audiences.
  • 5"Strong organizational and decision-making skills; able to lead independently.
  • 6"Proficiency with digital tools, CMS, social media management, and AI-enabled tools.

Responsibilities

  • Develop integrated communications strategies for multi-channel audiences and measure results.
  • Develop messaging frameworks tailored to diverse audiences and ensure organizational consistency.
  • Produce communications across social, digital, earned media and owned channels.
  • Plan and execute integrated communications and marketing plans with day-to-day support.
  • Act as day-to-day project manager; manage timelines and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Plan and execute special projects with cross-functional teams, tracking milestones.
  • Coordinate events, forums, and convenings; develop event communications and logistics.
  • Build relationships with media outlets and serve as a spokesperson when needed.
