Amgen Inc. is seeking a Director, Data Acquisition and Governance to lead governance, vendor lifecycle, contracting coordination, and operational support for commercial data assets.

You will work with GCCI, Technology, Legal, Privacy, Compliance, and Procurement to ensure compliant data handling, onboarding, and renewal strategies while optimizing spend and data rights. The role requires expertise in data governance, vendor management, and contracting, with strong leadership and cross-functional

Qualifications

• Doctorate, Master’s, or Bachelor’s with required years of experience in data acquisition/governance/vendor management.
• At least 4 years of leadership experience managing people or teams.

Responsibilities

• Define and oversee compliant Commercial Data Governance and Acquisition operations, processes, standards, controls, and policies.
• Lead governance, contracting coordination, onboarding readiness, access planning, and operational transition for new data assets.
• Provide governance, vendor, contracting, access, and operational input to executives and cross-functional partners.
• Identify opportunities to consolidate vendors, rationalize overlapping services, and optimize value across data assets.
• Provide expertise on data assets and establish controls, documentation standards, governance checkpoints, and catalog practices.
• Develop contracting and renewal strategies with procurement, legal, privacy, compliance, and finance.
• Serve as governance and vendor lifecycle lead across GCCI; oversee vendor performance and training.
• Collaborate cross-functionally on data assets, governance, access, and vendor performance.
• Collaborate with Technology, Data Management, and Data Science to ensure assets are feasible and documented.
• Communicate critical vendor changes, data availability, and governance decisions to leadership.
• Input into data strategy prioritization and budget governance.
