Job summary

GovCIO in the United States is seeking a Chief Solutions Architect for a remote, contract-based leadership role overseeing modernization efforts. You will set enterprise architecture standards, lead technical decisions, and direct the shift from on-prem to AWS.

As principal authority, you’ll ensure security compliance and scalable, cost-conscious design while coordinating with government technical leads and engineering teams across the program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field; AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional certification.
• Minimum 8 years' experience in one or more architecture domains (e.g., business architecture, solutions architecture, application architecture)
• Advanced knowledge in programming languages (e.g., Java, JavaScript, Python, Rust, Go, PHP) and cloud deployment architectures

Responsibilities

• Provide overall technical leadership and architectural governance for the application maintenance and modernization program.
• Guide modernization from legacy on-premise systems to AWS cloud services and ensure alignment with security and enterprise standards
