Job summary

Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited is seeking a Head of Characterization Small Molecules in Cambridge. This role leads extended characterization across CMC, leveraging MS, NMR, microscopy, and digital tools to advance discovery, development, and manufacturing.

You will build a high-performing team and collaborate with analytical, DS/DP, manufacturing, and quality colleagues to embed insights into decisions.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. with 5-7+ years, MSc with 10-13+ years, BSc with 12-15+ years of industry experience in analytical development and characterization.
• Deep experience with MS, NMR, microscopy in CMC.
• Strong understanding of analytical development supporting discovery, development, manufacturing, and regulatory submissions.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead extended characterization strategy across CMC portfolio.
• Oversee advanced analytical platforms to enable deep product understanding.
• Identify and integrate emerging analytical and digital technologies.
• Build and mentor a high-performing scientific organization.
• Partner with analytical, DS/DP, manufacturing, and quality teams.
• Establish and manage external partnerships and thought leadership.
