Job summary

Takeda is seeking a Head of Characterization Small Molecules in Cambridge, MA to lead extended characterization for CMC across discovery, development and manufacturing. You will apply MS, NMR and advanced microscopy to gain deep understanding of drug substances and products.

You will build and mentor a high-performing team, partner with analytics, DS/DP, manufacturing and quality to embed insights into decisions, and drive external collaborations through publications and industry engagements.

Qualifications

Deep expertise in MS, NMR and microscopy for drug substances.
Experience leading analytical characterization programs across CMC.
Strong collaboration across analytical, DS/DP, manufacturing and quality teams.
Experience supporting regulatory submissions and publications.

Responsibilities

Define, lead and deliver extended characterization strategy for CMC across programs.
Oversee advanced analytical platforms (MS, NMR, microscopy, bioassays) for deep understanding.
Identify and integrate emerging analytical technologies to modernize characterization.
Build, mentor and lead a high-performing scientific organization with budgeting and resourcing.
Partner with cross-functional teams to embed insights into development and manufacturing decisions.
Establish external collaborations and enhance reputation through publications and conferences.
