Job summary

Qcells North America is seeking a Backend Engineering Manager to lead the architecture, development, and operation of backend systems powering our mobile and web applications and device software.

You’ll manage a team of engineers across time zones, partner with Product, Mobile, Web, and Hardware teams, and drive strategy, execution, and reliability for scalable cloud-based services that support residential solar solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of backend software development experience.
• 3+ years in engineering management leading backend teams.
• Strong experience with distributed systems, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), REST APIs, event-driven systems, and databases.
• Proven track record building and operating production microservices at scale.
• Excellent communication and cross‑team collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the backend technical roadmap for mobile, web, and device software experiences.
• Own backend architecture including microservices, data models, APIs, event streams, and integration patterns.
• Lead, mentor, and grow a global team of backend engineers across time zones.
• Collaborate with Product, Mobile, Web, SQA, and Hardware teams to deliver cohesive customer experiences.
