Job summary
The YMCA of San Diego County is seeking an Aquatics Coordinator to support the Aquatics Director in delivering safe, engaging pool programs. Qualifications
- Minimum age 18 years
- Minimum 3 years’ lifeguard experience
- Current YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor certification or ARC WSI (must crossover to YMCA within 6 months)
- Current YMCA or American Red Cross Lifeguard Training (must crossover to YMCA in 6 months)
- Lifeguard Instructor certification, desirable
- Current First Aid for Public Safety Personnel (ARC/Red Cross/IAHA certifications)
- Current CPR PRO/AED certification (ARC/Red Cross/IAHA)
- Current O2 certification (ARC/Red Cross/IAHA)
- Current CPO certification within 60 days of employment
- Experience supervising staff
- Pass written and practical skills prior to duty
Responsibilities
- Assists Aquatics Director in staff scheduling and covering all shifts and lessons
- Assists in implementing new aquatics programs
- Resolve member and facility issues and report problems to the Aquatics Director
- Maintain pump room operations, chemical levels, water clarity, chlorine/acid levels
- Maintain proper pool equipment functionality and certifications
- Perform chemical tests and maintenance duties when not lifeguarding
- Supervise Aquatic staff in the absence of the Aquatics Director
- Assist in training and development of staff
- Lead lifeguard drills and rescues as required
- Develop and evaluate aquatic programming options for a diverse membership base
- Outreach to enroll and retain class participants
- Budget development and oversight for swim lesson programs
- Ensure staff certifications meet YMCA standards
- Inspect pool facilities and related areas for safety and cleanliness
- Coordinate records for aquatic instruction and program participation
- Lead branch special events and participate in YMCA clusters/committees
