Job summary

Merlin Labs in Boston, MA is seeking a senior data and infrastructure leader to define and execute a comprehensive data strategy across AI model training, simulation, and production deployment. You will own end-to-end data pipelines, drive data flywheels to improve model performance, and collaborate with teams operating large GPU/TPU clusters.

The role requires a track record in safety-critical domains and a strong systems mindset.

Qualifications

• 10+ years engineering experience in data infrastructure/MLOps
• 4+ years in technical leadership owning data infra at scale
• Hands-on with data pipelines for AI/ML model training
• Experience with large-scale distributed training infra (GPU/TPU)
• Knowledge of simulation pipelines and data quality impact on fidelity
• Experience in safety-critical domains (autonomy/aviation)
• Strong systems-thinking and developer-experience mindset
• Proven ability to build platforms used by multiple teams

Responsibilities

• Define end-to-end data strategy for AI model training, simulation, and production deployment
• Own data pipeline from collection, labeling, curation, versioning to delivery
• Build data flywheels to improve model performance iteratively
• Coordinate with teams managing GPU/TPU training clusters and scheduling
• Design data pipelines for simulators (data-driven/physics-based/high-fidelity)
• Ensure data quality standards and traceability for safety/regulatory needs
• Lead and mentor data and infrastructure engineers
• Define KPIs for data pipeline health, simulation fidelity, and model readiness
