Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin's College of Natural Sciences seeks an Assistant Dean for Advising and Student Support to lead the CNS Undergraduate Education advising continuum, focusing on student success across academic, non‑academic, and professional advising, and to manage student records.

This role shapes a data-informed strategy, collaborates across units, and ensures consistent service excellence, while guiding budget, staff development, and policy adherence on campus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 6 years of progressive experience managing programs or developing initiatives.
• Demonstrated success in academic advising, personnel management, and budget management.
• Effective leadership with students, staff, faculty, and external stakeholders; strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Set priorities and lead CNS undergraduate advising to support both thriving and struggling students.
• Oversee Advising and Student Support: budget, staff, training, and performance evaluations.
• Coordinate non‑academic advising and student wellness with campus resources and policies.
• Supervise Student Records including graduation, petitions, and catalog issues.
• Guide technology and data strategy; manage CRM platforms and data governance.
• Represent CNS on university committees and foster cross‑unit partnerships.
• Provide trusted counsel to the Associate Dean on sensitive student and policy matters.
• Make delegated decisions on student petitions and appeals.
• Other duties as assigned.
