Job summary

PARK COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT 6 is seeking a Nordic Ski Head Coach to instruct students in fundamental skills and knowledge, fostering individual development and team performance. The role emphasizes safety, equipment management, and effective communication with students, parents, and staff.

The coach will develop drills, supervise activities, ensure appropriate health rules, and may accompany teams on out-of-town trips as needed.

Qualifications

• Possess all certificates required for the State of Wyoming
• Possess current CPR certification
• Possess current First Aid certification
• Have fundamental knowledge of the sport
• Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries course.
• Ability to select from a variety of instruction methods to teach activity objectives.

Responsibilities

• Develop drills and practices to build individual and team skills.
• Create and maintain equipment inventory.
• Schedule and manage equipment check-out, maintenance, and return.
• Plan and enforce safety and health rules.
• Develop supervision plans for safety in locker rooms, trips and practices.
• Maintain confidentiality of students and others.
• Maintain a professional appearance.
• Communicate effectively with players, parents, staff and spectators.
• Receive and follow directions accurately.
• Model and demonstrate skills and equipment.
• Observe, diagnose, and prescribe remediation during practice and games.
• Apply developmental stages of the game to players' levels.
• Adapt innovations and changes as needed.
• Support the district philosophies.
• Supervise students on out-of-town activities; overnight stays may be required.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT AND HOURS OF DUTY:

JOB SUMMARY:

To instruct all students in the fundamental skills and knowledge of the sport or activity. To provide an atmosphere for successful individual development through monitoring, evaluating, and reinforcing.

Performance Responsibilities

• Ability to develop drill and practice activities that teach and enhance individual/team skill development that makes up the game.
• Develop and maintain an inventory list of equipment.
• Prepares and implements a schedule of checking out, maintaining, and checking in equipment.
• Ability to plan and enforce appropriate safety and health rules and regulations.
• Ability to develop a supervision plan that ensures the safety and welfare of students at all times: locker room, trips, practices, etc.
• Maintains confidentiality about students and others.
• Presents a professional appearance.
• Ability to be an effective communicator with all audiences - players, parents, supervisors, peers and spectators.
• Ability to receive, understand and follow directions.
• Be able to model/demonstrate activities and equipment used to develop basic skills or physical condition.
• Ability to observe, diagnose, and prescribe appropriate remediation activities during practice and game conditions for players and team.
• Must know and be able to apply the developmental stages of each point of the game to the needs and ability levels of the team/players.
• Assimilate innovations and adapt to changes when applicable.
• Support the philosophies of Park County School District #6.
• May be responsible for supervising students on out-of-town activities. This may involve staying overnight.

Physical Demands

All Sports

• Ability to sit on a bus for hour after hour.
• Ability to carry and/or provide aid to an injured player.

Nordic Skiing

• Ability to demonstrate various skills and describe verbally, as well.
• Ability to hear and be heard outdoors for up to 50 yards.
• Ability to assist and move an injured participant to safety.
