Job summary

North Lawrence Community Schools’ Bedford Middle School is seeking a dedicated Middle Swimming Coach for the upcoming season to develop young swimmers and foster teamwork and sportsmanship.

The role involves planning practices, organizing meets, and ensuring safety, with flexible evenings and weekends. Prior coaching or competing at MS/HS/collegiate level preferred, along with strong communication with parents and staff.

Qualifications

• Previous experience coaching or competing in swimming at the middle school, high school, or collegiate level.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct daily swim practices, focusing on technique, endurance, and overall athletic development.
• Develop and implement training programs tailored to the skill levels of individual swimmers and the team as a whole.
• Organize and supervise swim meets, including warm-ups, race line-ups, and post-race evaluations.
• Teach swimming fundamentals, including stroke mechanics, starts, turns, and finishes, while ensuring safety protocols are followed.
• Foster a positive and encouraging team culture that promotes sportsmanship, respect, and collaboration among athletes.
• Communicate regularly with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding practice schedules, meet information, and athlete progress.
• Monitor and evaluate individual and team performance, providing constructive feedback and guidance for improvement.
• Maintain a safe and organized practice environment, addressing any issues related to swimmer safety and equipment management.
• Assist in recruiting new team members and promoting the swimming program within the school community.
• Attend coaching clinics and workshops to stay updated on the latest coaching techniques and swimming trends.
