Position Purpose
The Head Men’s and Women’s Powerlifting Coach supports the educational mission of Aurora University by leading, organizing, and administering the Men’s and Women’s Powerlifting programs. Responsibilities include scheduling varsity and junior varsity competitions, managing the program’s operating budget, coordinating team travel, and overseeing day-to-day program operations.

Essential Job Functions
- Mentor and coach student‑athletes, recruit and retain quality athletes, and schedule competitions.
- Manage the program’s operating budget and arrange team travel.
- Supervise Assistant Coach(s) and conduct performance evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with NCAA Division III rules and conference regulations.
- Teaching/Coaching
- Stay informed of coaching trends and develop effective game plans.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate practice sessions.
- Provide feedback and praise to student‑athletes.
- Motivate athletes to high academic standards and student‑athlete conduct.
- Focus on safety, maintain equipment, and report necessary repairs.
- Recruitment of Student‑Athletes
- Recruit and retain athletes to meet squad size and transfer goals.
- Partner with the Office of Admissions to explain university programs.
- Oversee equipment procurement, maintenance, and inventory.
- Prepare end‑of‑season reports and coach evaluations.
- Maintain team and individual performance records.
- Demonstrate sportsmanlike conduct and set a positive example.
- Develop and maintain relationships with alumni and community stakeholders.
- Attend athletic and university meetings.
- Drive university or rental vehicles for away contests.
- Perform additional duties as directed by the Vice President for Athletics.
- Support the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach and lead training for 3–4 varsity sports.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well‑equipped conditioning facility.
- Hold a nationally accredited Strength & Conditioning certification.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience is required; Master’s degree preferred.
Experience
Minimum of 1–2 years of relevant experience in coaching or athletics.

Work Hours
Expected 40 hours per week; days and hours may vary. Hybrid or work‑from‑home options considered if role can be performed effectively off‑site.

Compensation
The pay range reflects the budgeted amount expected for this position; the final pay will not be below the lowest rate listed.
