Job summary

Buffalo Biodiesel Inc. is seeking a skilled Head Mechanic in Tonawanda, NY to lead daily shop operations, oversee diagnostics and repairs on large vehicles, and mentor mechanics. This role provides an opportunity to enhance fleet reliability and safety while coordinating with Fleet Management and Dispatch.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of hands-on experience, a valid license (CDL preferred), and a proven ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast‑paced shop environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' hands-on commercial truck repair experience.
• Experience supervising mechanics in a shop environment.
• Valid driver's license; CDL preferred but not required.
• Maintain a drug-free lifestyle per company policy.
• Reliable and able to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily shop operations and manage shop staff
• Ensure repair policies are met
• Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on commercial trucks and heavy duty vehicles
• Oversee, assign, and support routine and preventative maintenance tasks
• Work closely with mechanics to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues
• Maintain accurate repair logs, parts usage, and service records
• Collaborate with Fleet Management and Dispatch to prioritize repairs and minimize downtime
• Assist with onboarding, training, and performance support for mechanics
• Ensure shop safety, cleanliness, and compliance with company policies
• Other duties as assigned

Salary Range: $45.00 To $50.00 Hourly

Buffalo Biodiesel Inc. is in growth mode and currently seeking a skilled and motivated Head Mechanic to support the team. This role is ideal for a hands-on commercial truck mechanic who can assist in leading shop operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant fleet performance.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily shop operations and manage shop staff
• Ensure repair policies are met
• Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on commercial trucks and heavy duty vehicles
