Buffalo Biodiesel Inc. in Tonawanda, NY is seeking an Assistant Head Mechanic to support the shop team. You will lead daily operations, supervise technicians, and ensure safe, compliant maintenance of our diesel fleet.

The role requires hands-on repair experience with commercial trucks, strong diagnostic skills, and the ability to coordinate repairs with Fleet Management. CDL preferred but not required; Monday–Friday schedule.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on commercial truck repair experience.
• Experience supervising mechanics in a shop environment.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Mechanic in overseeing daily shop operations.
• Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on commercial trucks and heavy duty vehicles.
• Oversee, assign, and support routine and preventative maintenance tasks.
• Work closely with mechanics to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues.
• Maintain accurate repair logs, parts usage, and service records.
• Collaborate with Fleet Management and Dispatch to prioritize repairs and minimize downtime.
• Assist with onboarding, training, and performance support for mechanics.
• Ensure shop safety, cleanliness, and compliance with company policies.
• Other duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $40.00 To $45.00 Hourly

Buffalo Biodiesel Inc. is in growth mode and currently seeking a skilled and motivated Assistant Head Mechanicto support the team. This role is ideal for a hands‑on commercial truck mechanic who can assist in leading shop operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant fleet performance.
