Job summary

City of Plano is seeking Head Lifeguards for our aquatic operations. You will lead Lifeguards and Recreation Aides, ensuring safe, welcoming experiences for guests while maintaining high energy and positive engagement.

Responsibilities include adapting quickly to situations, addressing patron concerns, and overseeing safety and surveillance to protect guests. This role is part-time with benefits and growth opportunities within Plano Parks and Recreation.

Qualifications

• Must be able to adapt on the fly and address patron concerns.
• Ability to lead a group of Lifeguards and Recreation Aides while ensuring a fun, safe guest experience.
• Maintain safety at all times and perform effective surveillance.

Responsibilities

• Lead lifeguards and recreation staff to deliver safe aquatic experiences.
• Address patron concerns and provide friendly, responsive service.
• Ensure vigilance, prevent incidents, and enforce pool rules.

Our Head Lifeguards are critical to the success of our aquatic operations. They help create an environment where family and friends feel safe, where they feel welcome, and where they feel they belong. Head Lifeguards must have the ability to adapt on the fly, address patron concerns, provide leadership to a group of Lifeguards and Recreation Aides, and at the same time provide an exciting fun experience for our guests. Qualities we are looking for include passion, professionalism, excitement and positive energy. Key components also include maintaining safety at all times and effective surveillance.

• Regular, part-time, 20+ hours per week; eligible for vacation accrual based on hours worked.
• Regular, part-time, 20+ hours per week; vacation accrual at .0923 hours per hour worked.
• Membership in the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS), in which the City matches contributions 2:1 upon retirement
