SUMMARY: Under general supervision, ensures the safety of patrons of an aquatic facility by preventing and responding to emergencies. This position is scheduled Saturdays 12pm-5pm and Sundays 10am-3pm September through May. During summer months, this position is scheduled 11:30am-6:30pm Saturdays & Sundays and as needed Monday-Friday. The applicant must have reliable transportation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to ensure safety of patrons in the event of emergency.
• Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
• Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service.
• Performs various tasks as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
• Prepares and maintains appropriate activity reports.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
• Attends mandatory monthly in-service trainings to stay up to date on skills.
• Greets Splish Splash Party hosts and guests, reviews and enforces facility rules and policies, checks rental spaces for damage or debris, completes required paperwork with party host.
• Assists Lifeguards with rule enforcement and education; assists patrons with selecting and wearing U.S. Coast Guard approved flotation devices.
• Works with Pool Supervisor and Aquatics Supervisor to provide a safe, clean, family-friendly environment for patrons.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Two to three years experience as a Lifeguard.
• Current certification in American Red Cross Lifeguarding (Including Deep Water) with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid.
• Facility operations and cash handling experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
• Skill in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques.
• Ability to pass pre-employment physical skills evaluation as stipulated by the department.
• Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.
• Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures.
• Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
• Knowledge and demonstration of customer service standards and procedures.
