Job summary

The University of Iowa Center for Advancement seeks an Assistant Vice President of Development for Health Sciences to lead philanthropy across UI Health Care, including Stead Family Children’s Hospital. Reporting to the Vice President for Health Sciences Development, this role combines strategic fundraising with executive leadership in a complex health enterprise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of fundraising experience (including management).
• Experience in academic healthcare settings preferred.
• Strong leadership and strategic fundraising skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide fundraising leadership for UI Health Care departments and oversee UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital and Health Care Philanthropy teams.
• Maintain relationships with the CEO of the clinical enterprise and UI Health Care leaders to ensure confidence in our advancement approach.
• Develop strategies with Data Analytics to strengthen fundraising capacity.
• Model the role of a trusted philanthropic advisor and identify donor-centered ways for prospects to give.
• Prepare partners for donor meetings and guide their role in giving conversations.
• Develop, implement, and participate in stewardship activities for donors and ensure compliance with policies.
• Lead organizational oversight of budgeting, reporting, and operations for the unit.
• Oversee talent lifecycle and empower employees to achieve goals.
