Job summary

Sumter School District is seeking a Head Girls Track Coach for Bates Middle School. This role leads the girls track program, manages coaching staff, and ensures athlete safety and program integrity.

The candidate must have at least five years of coaching experience and be eligible for South Carolina educator certification. Report to the Athletic Director and Principal; salary based on credentials and district pay schedule.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of coaching experience.
• Must possess or have the qualifications to obtain South Carolina educator certification.
• Such alternatives to these qualifications as the Board may find acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Fosters good school-community relations by keeping the community aware of and responsive to the athletic program.
• Responsible for the health and safety of student athletes. Ensures proper safety and first aid procedures are followed at all times.
• Promotes and maintains positive relationships with parents and student athletes. Conducts parent meetings prior to the season.
• Ensures that the sports program complies with the rules and regulations of the school and District and relevant leagues.
• Ensures appropriate behavior of coaching staff, players, and team personnel at all times.
• Promotes the sports program by sponsoring fundraisers and camps.

Rate of Pay: Based upon credentials and experience in accordance with the district-approvedpay schedule.

Performance Responsibilities:.

• Fosters good school-community relations by keeping the community aware of and responsive to the athletic program.
• Responsible for the health and safety of student athletes. Ensures that proper safety and first aid procedures are followed at all times. Follows all appropriate emergency procedures. Makes sure that all participants have a valid physical examination before participation.
• Promotes and maintains positive relationships with parents and student athletes. Conducts parent meetings prior to the beginning of the season.
• Ensures that the sports program complies with the rules and regulations of the school and District, the South Carolina High School League, affiliated Conference and Region. Complies with all other legal requirements of school athletic programs. Communicates to members of his/her team all policies, rules, procedures, and requirements as they pertain to the team.
• Ensures appropriate behavior of assigned coaching staff, players, and other team personnel at all times.
• Ensures punctual attendance at scheduled coaches' meetings and rules clinics. Promotes the sports program bysponsoring fundraisers, sponsoring youth camps, attending team camps, etc.

Terms: Salary and work year to be recommended by the Superintendent and approved by the Board.

Evaluation: Job performance will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of Sumter School District Board policy.
