Sumter School District is seeking an Assistant Boys Track Coach for Bates Middle School. The role requires five years of coaching experience and certification eligibility in South Carolina, with the Athletic Director and Principal overseeing supervision.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Fosters good school-community relations by keeping the community aware of and responsive to the athletic program.
• Responsible for the health and safety of student athletes. Ensures proper safety and first aid procedures are followed at all times; ensure participants have a valid physical examination before participation.
• Promotes and maintains positive relationships with parents and student athletes; conducts parent meetings prior to the season.
• Ensures the sports program complies with the rules and regulations of the school and District, SC High School League, and related bodies; communicates policies and requirements to team members.
• Ensures appropriate behavior of coaching staff, players, and team personnel at all times.
• Ensures punctual attendance at scheduled coaches' meetings and rules clinics; promotes the program with fundraisers and camps.

Rate of Pay:

Based upon credentials and experience in accordance with the district-approvedpay schedule.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Fosters good school-community relations by keeping the community aware of and responsive to the athletic program.
• Responsible for the health and safety of student athletes. Ensures that proper safety and first aid procedures are followed at all times. Follows all appropriate emergency procedures. Makes sure that all participants have a valid physical examination before participation.
• Promotes and maintains positive relationships with parents and student athletes. Conducts parent meetings prior to the beginning of the season.
• Ensures that the sports program complies with the rules and regulations of the school and District, the South Carolina High School League, affiliated Conference and Region. Complies with all other legal requirements of school athletic programs. Communicates to members of his/her team all policies, rules, procedures, and requirements as they pertain to the team.
• Ensures appropriate behavior of assigned coaching staff, players, and other team personnel at all times.
• Ensures punctual attendance at scheduled coaches' meetings and rules clinics. Promotes the sports program bysponsoring fundraisers, sponsoring youth camps, attending team camps, etc.

Terms:

Salary and work year to be recommended by the Superintendent and approved by the Board.

Evaluation:

Job performance will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of Sumter School District Board policy.
