Job summary

Union Township Public Schools in Union, New Jersey, is seeking a dedicated Head Custodian for the 2026-2027 school year, reporting to the Manager of Operations & Maintenance and the Principal.

Responsibilities include supervising custodial staff, scheduling work, enforcing safety practices, performing minor repairs, maintaining inventories, and ensuring compliance with board policies.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of experience as a custodian.
• Low Pressure Black Seal Boiler License required.
• Demonstrate aptitude and competence for the position.

Responsibilities

• Be familiar with and carry out the Board Policy on Duties of a Custodian.
• Develop and maintain a work schedule for themselves and all custodians under their supervision.
• Instruct custodial staff in safe work practices.
• Instruct custodial staff the proper use of equipment and supplies.
• Instruct custodial staff in preventive maintenance.
• Maintain daily attendance records for all custodians under their supervision.
• Complete minor repairs as needed.
• Maintain written inventories on equipment, deliveries, and supplies.
• Assist in other related tasks assigned by the Manager of Operations & Maintenance Dept.
