Job summary

Omaha Public Schools is seeking a Head Custodian - Engineer - Licensed at Lewis & Clark Middle School in Omaha, NE. This full-time hourly position reports to the Building Principal and requires a licensed operator with strong manpower management and HVAC knowledge.

Responsibilities include supervising custodial staff, maintaining maintenance records, and ensuring safety and cleanliness across facilities. The role demands physical stamina and excellent organizational skills, with 261 duty days

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• License: City of Omaha Third Grade Stationary Plant Operator’s License required.
• Demonstrated organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of HVAC operation, housekeeping procedures and custodial equipment.
• Excellent attendance and ability to review work orders.

Responsibilities

• Maintain preventive maintenance records and schedules for building systems.
• Keep accurate work records and protect confidentiality of personnel matters.
• Anticipate supply and equipment needs and coordinate with custodial staff.
• Operate HVAC equipment and maintain operator logs.
• Inspect facilities for safety, vandalism, and hazards and report findings.
• Establish cleaning schedules and perform housekeeping to standards.
• Manage inventory of supplies and ensure proper usage per manufacturer directions.
• Lead custodial staff and assign tasks under building administrator supervision.
• Provide courteous service to students, administrators, and staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
