Sylvania is seeking a dedicated Custodian Level V to manage custodial operations at Discovery Middle School in Minnesota. The role involves leading evening staff, maintaining a clean and safe facility, and coordinating with school administration on events and daily needs.
The position requires a high school diploma or GED, and within 12 months, boilers and possibly pool licenses, plus a valid driver’s license. Compensation starts at $24.86/hour with full benefits.
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to oversee the custodial operations at Discovery Middle School. The ideal candidate will ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. This full-time position requires strong leadership skills, a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards, and the ability to work collaboratively with school administration and staff.
Performs intermediate semi-skilled work maintaining an attractive, sanitary and safe facility for students, staff and members of the public, providing furniture and equipment for meetings or events, performs minor repairs and preventative maintenance, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Buildings and Grounds Supervisor. Occasional oversight is exercised over custodians.
Maintains heating ventilation and air conditioning systems, monitors door security system, program for events and proper function, monitors lighting control system, activate and deactivate alarm system, monitors automated building controls and mechanical equipment.
Schedules and assists in repairs and maintenance of buildings and equipment (repairs furniture, lighting, locks, windows, ceiling tiles, filters etc.); performs maintenance as needed.
Supports building maintenance and cleaning as required; cleans, scrubs, strips, waxes, buffs and sweeps floors; vacuums carpets; responds to emergency clean-ups; replaces lights and ballasts; performs minor plumbing repairs; assists with lunch clean-up; clears snow and ice from District property.
Provides work direction and/or duties for evening staff; trains new and existing custodial staff.
Complete pre-order form for cleaning supplies; assists in shipping and receiving; insures proper labeling of chemicals and instructions.
Informs students, staff and visitors on safety issues and the proper use and maintenance of facilities; provides instruction to students and volunteers assigned for event set-up or clean-up.
High school diploma or GED and minimal experience in a custodial or mechanical environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Boilers License within 12 months of being hired.
Pool license may be required within 12 months of being hired.
Valid driver's license.
$24.86 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
