Responsibilities

  • Disinfect school buildings in line with local and state guidelines.
  • Frequently clean classrooms, bathrooms, cafeteria, offices, and hallways.
  • Set up and break down rooms for meetings, assemblies and events.
  • Collect and dispose of trash including recyclables using predetermined procedures.
  • Perform basic maintenance of furniture, playground equipment, plumbing and electrical as needed; report major repairs.
  • Ensure security and safety of building and equipment; unlock/lock doors; check HVAC, windows and fire alarms; may involve weekends and breaks.
  • Conduct seasonal tasks such as snow removal, gutter/roof cleaning, and deep cleaning during breaks.

Full‑time Custodian needed for the 2025‑26 school year.

PURPOSE

To provide a safe and clean learning environment for the students, staff and entire school community that is conducive to productiveness.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

This position reports to the Director of Operations and the Custodial/Warehouse Supervisor and works on a daily basis under the direction of the principal of the assigned building.

RESPONSIBILITIES

All staff is required to disinfect school buildings in accordance with local and state guidelines.

Frequently clean classrooms, bathrooms, cafeteria, offices, hallways, etc. according to standard operating procedures established by the district.

  • Set up furniture and rooms for meetings, assemblies, and other special events. Clean up afterwards and return to proper order.
  • Collect and dispose of all trash including hazardous waste and recyclables in predetermined manner.
  • Perform basic maintenance of furniture, playground equipment, plumbing and electrical as needed. Report items needing major repairs.
  • Maintain proper security and safety of building and equipment including unlocking doors in morning, locking doors at night, checking operations of HVAC, checking windows, and fire alarms. May include checking buildings on weekends and breaks.
  • Perform seasonal tasks including snow removal, cleaning of gutters, roofs, and major cleaning of buildings during breaks.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma
  • 1 to 2 years related experience
  • Basic mechanical and electrical skills
  • Good communication, interpersonal, and follow‑up skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS

This position requires the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy objects up to 100 pounds in weight; to climb ladders; and to maneuver around furniture and equipment. Also good vision skills are necessary for proper cleaning and for use of color coded supplies. Some overtime is required for special projects.

SALARY

Not less than $19.07/ hour
