- Experience in all phases of cleaning and basic building maintenance
- Ability to perform routine cleaning and maintenance activities such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, trash removal, and ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of restrooms
- Strong customer service skills while assisting and supporting district staff and community members with the setup, use, and cleanup of necessary equipment, furniture, and other resources for classroom use, meetings, athletic events, and special programs
- Ability to support school activities and implement routine cleaning and maintenance protocols
- Ability to create and maintain a positive and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors
- Excellent independent work skills requiring a minimum amount of supervision
- Ability to operate snow removal, salting, and ground maintenance equipment
- Ability to operate floor scrubbing, waxing, carpet extraction, and disinfecting equipment
- Capability to perform basic maintenance on tools and equipment
- Ability to order and restock materials needed for the upkeep of the school while staying within an assigned budget
- Ability to inspect building spaces regularly for cleanliness and document any maintenance repairs needed ? Willingness and commitment to include equity, social justice, and inclusion in all practices
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours/overtime hours/some weekends
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and secure building and work environment
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to proficiently use basic technology (email, calendar) and web based applications
- Ability to routinely lift, push, throw, stack, carry, and move 50 lbs
- History of good time management and good attendance
- Ability to perform other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D)

Location: East Grand Rapids Public Schools
Rate: Hourly rate commensurate with experience and qualifications
Hours: First shift with required flexible hours to support select school events (occasionally with required overtime)
Start Date: As mutually agreed upon
