Job summary

Qualifications

• 2 years' experience in a school food service setting preferred.
• Ability to work alone as well as in a team.
• Organized and able to lead a small team.
• Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
• Able to follow supervisors directions and lead a small team.
• Strong communication skills with employees and clients.
• Able to follow spoken and written directions.
• Ability to prioritize, plan and use time efficiently.
• Able to lift 30 pounds and stand for long periods.
• Maintain confidentiality with student, staff, and parent information.
• Criminal background check required.

Responsibilities

• Cooks and prepares a variety of food through standardized recipes.
• Ensure meals meet quality standards, are correctly prepared and served timely.
• Direct and monitor food service staff and substitutes in prep, setup, and serving.
• Prepare and cook menu items for regular and a la carte lines.
• Lead a small staff with clear direction and training.
• Check equipment, monitor temperatures of refrigeration and freezers.
• Utilize leftovers per standards; manage waste and cost control.
• Establish monthly food and labor cost goals; monitor budget performance.
• Promote nutrition education in school and community.
