Job summary

Sioux Center Health is seeking an experienced Head Cook to join our hospital kitchen team in Sioux Center, IA. You will oversee meal preparation for patients, staff, and visitors, and lead a small team of cooks to ensure quality, safety, and timely service.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED (or related experience), a valid driver9s license and insurance, and the ability to implement IDDSI standards and patient diet plans.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months related experience.
• Valid driver9s license and automobile liability insurance.
• Ability to follow IDDSI standards and resident diet plans.

Responsibilities

• Head cook for specific meals during shift.
• Provide training and leadership to cooks and staff in neighborhoods.
• Prepare menu items ensuring proper food temperatures for safety.
• Prepare foods per IDDSI standards and resident diet plans.
• Label and date all ingredients and items.
• Maintain kitchen cleaning duties and sanitation.
• Monitor temps of freezers/refrigerators and report issues.
• Assist managers in training new staff in sanitation and safety.
• Support neighborhoods and supervise on deliveries and stock handling.
• Follow safety with food service chemicals and MSDS knowledge.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
