The Bresnahan School, a grade PK-3 elementary school in Newburyport, Massachusetts, is seeking energetic and experienced food service staff for the position of head cook in our cafeteria. The role involves managing the food service program to ensure students are served attractive, nutritious meals in a clean, efficient, and friendly environment.

Responsibilities include:

• Managing the child nutrition program at the assigned school
• Preparing weekly schedules for kitchen staff
• Ensuring compliance with the Massachusetts Department of Child Nutrition Program policies
• Overseeing food preparation and service
• Securing food and supplies, supervising storage and care
• Following menus developed by the Food Service Director and Assistant Director
• Supervising and participating in kitchen cleaning and maintenance
• Training new cafeteria employees
• Reading and interpreting recipes and instructions
• Attending training sessions and workshops
• Maintaining confidentiality and accurate records of production, temperatures, inventory, receipts, and invoices
• Performing other tasks as assigned by the manager

The salary is determined by the contract between AFSCME union and the Newburyport School Committee.
