Job summary

Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, OH is seeking a Part-Time Track Coach at the Metropolitan Campus to organize and administer track programs and enforce NJACC, OCCAC, and OCCAC rules as applicable. The role supports student athletes in skill development and health training to achieve team success.

The position requires a High School diploma or GED and at least three years of coaching/ recruiting experience, CPR and First Aid certifications, and a commitment to student success.

• Oversees recruitment of student athletes and scouting opponents.
• Leads clinics, practices, and tournaments.
• Performs other duties as assigned by leadership.
• May transport student athletes in College vehicles with required waiver.

Job Description

Summary

Organizes and administers all matters related to track and enforces all rules and regulations of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJACC), Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C), and the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) where applicable as a framework to instruct student athletes in individual and team fundamentals, strategy and physical training necessary to achieve individual and team success. Enforces rules and regulations pertaining to conditioning of players and training rules affecting the health and safety of players.

Essential Functions

• Schedules and manages practice sessions and games
• Ensure compliance with NJCAA, OCCAC, and Tri-C rules and regulations
• Organizes and runs staff meetings, and attends meetings when called by the Executive Director, Athletics, Wellness & Recreation
• Provides emergency first aid and medical care in absence of the trainer
• Enforces rules and regulations pertaining to conditioning of players and training rules affecting the health and safety of players
• Oversees the recruitment of student-athletes and scouting opponents
• Manages the establishment and enforcement of team rules
• Leads clinics, practices, and tournaments
• Carries out other duties as assigned by the Executive Director, Athletics, Wellness & Recreation
• May be responsible for transporting student athletes in College-rented vehicles within the scop of departmental functions.
• Must complete the Compliance and Risk Management process to become an authorized driver and be granted a waiver to transport students
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED
• Minimum three years of experience coaching track and recruiting student athletes
• Current or renewable Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification
• Current or renewable First Aid or Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Certification
• Commitment to student success
• Demonstrated experience making sound decisions that affect a work unit or team
• Demonstrated experience requiring diverse problem-solving methods in a variety of situations

• Possess basic knowledge of fundamental track coaching concepts, practices and procedures with the ability to apply in varied situations as it pertains to the departmental focus

Set-Rate Non-Bargaining Part-Time Position:

This is a Part-Time Non-Bargaining Unit Position, with the following Set Rate of Pay: $21.81/ hour.
